First Week of May

We had a little nasty weather roll thru here early morning and it brought a little rain with it. Not so much it was muddy tho. The humidity came right up and sweat was dripping all darn day. I hate it's so miserable already. Here's the start of the back to eden garden plan. I know this is going to work just fine since the beer box thing a couple years ago worked so well. Now all I need is a big pile of papers.

Lots of planting going on here....

  1. That looks awesome! The mulch really makes it look great, and remembering the back to eden video, it is going to work out great as well.

I still have not got anything growing in my apartment, though I am picking up some tomato plants tommorow (I think I waited too long to start from seed?) and am going to keep a eye out for curbside throwaway coffee tables and tubs, for other greens.

  2. The gardening part of the video was really worth watching to long film. It makes me feel better about just throwing stuff in my little 4x4 foot box we made and expecting good things.

I can't wait to see how things go for you and if you get larger and sweeter produce with less work. It seems like you just cannot fail with this method.

What kind of fence do you have in the picture. the materials, I mean.

    1. Hey PP, you're right, it was a long film but the method makes sense and I found plenty of problems it should correct. The fence is cattle panel, rigid wire so the goats can't walk it down on me.

    2. I looked up the cattle panel. I remember that was what you said you needed last year. It seems like a good product for such a cheap price. What kind of poles/posts hold it up?

    3. just simple metal t-posts. easy to set and easy to move later on.

  3. You're so lucky to be able to plant so early!! We are in Northern MI and still have our plants in containers. ahhhhh. Nights just too cold as yet.

    1. Hey Lana, I know how yo feel, it's just now getting over 50F at night here. The days are already in the 90s, not liking that much! Too soon to be so hot!

  4. I liked the video as well and am going to try it--on a small amount of the garden. I just don't have access to that much wood mulch without paying for it. Thanks for the link.

I always rush the season--by whatever means necessary. I live in ME, and last night had frost. (Runner beans looked a little funny in their newspaper cone hats held with clothespins, but it worked. :) The key is religiously checking the local forecast and covering plants if it will even be close.
